Re: How to define bolt/shear connection between beam/column in Ram Elements V8i

With most finite element programs, the default behavior for linear beam type members is to be fully fixed or rigid at the ends. This is done to prevent instabilities that often arise from having everything pinned or hinged at the ends.

In Ram Elements, the options to hinge the ends of members are found on the Spreadsheet menu or view as shown below.
