When using 'Results Along Line' to determine stress/forces in a plate element, what do the arrows that are automatically shown on the plates represent? I thought they referenced the X and Y axis that is being used to determine the sign convention of the stresses/forces in the plate elements but that doesn't appear to be the case. Case in point when you 'flip' the direction of the horizontal line (parallel to the plane of the cut - supposedly the x-axis) the values of Fxy don't change signs when intuitively they should. The only value that changes sign is the Mz value.
Am i reading this wrong? I assumed the 'flip' button changes the direction of the local x-axis for the plane of the cut but am I mistaken? Does it do something else?
