Hi,
In Staad, I am trying to model corrosion on a structural member. I have used section builder to recreate a section mimicking a section loss. I have then exported this through section builder and saved this with a .upt extension and then gone into staad/tools/createuser table/new table and then selected my newly created section property manually and stated if it is a angle/WF etc. I have cross checked the section properties to see the correct Ax etc displayed. This process works successfully during the time the project file is running.
The problem I have is that if i switch off my machine or look at different models and then go back to this same model it will come up with errors and say something like ' errors found in input file. would you like to edit the input file?'. The error given in the input file is 'error, user table property name is not valid. command ignored. Error line (390): 807 814 821 UPTABLE 7 P118'
It then lists the same error for each subsequent property I have created. The member is still in staad. i.e. member 807 is still there but not property is displayed and then it crashes if i double click on the member to investigate it. The only solution I have is to go back to another version of the model and manually amend the section properties once again.
It therefore seems that importing section properties works for the first time that the model is running and if you go back to model the following day it will forget the association between the members and the amended section properties. Surely this cannot be the case, otherwise this would become quite cumbersome everytime you need to review the model you would have to reenter the section properties!
