Re: Problems in using COMBINE command in IS13920

Hi,

As per IS-13920 beam design, sometimes it becomes necessary to combine two or more members into one member for the purpose of design. To do this COMBINE parameter is introduced in the year 2000-2001 which combines all the members into one physical member.  Thus, if a beam spanning between two supports is subdivided into many sub-beams this parameter will combine them into one member. It can also be used to combine members to form one continuous beam spanning over more than two supports. The correct syntax is as follows:

COMBINE 1 MEMB <list1>

DESIGN BEAM <list1>

COMBINE 1 MEMB <list2>

DESIGN BEAM <list2>

In the batch mode of design, design of physical member is not possible. Program only designs the analytical members. Using COMBINE command, user can create a physical member with few analytical members. Program forms a physical member and performs the design for that physical member at a time and then it considers the next COMBINE command. So you need to provide the DESIGN BEAM command just after the COMBINE command.

I have already forwarded your suggestions to our development team.
