Which software are you using ? On a general note here are a couple of thoughts. Please check whether you are actually designing for those cases that you modified. For example in STAAD.Pro you can have the structure designed for a certain set of loads and combinations. Also please check what the failure condition for the members were to begin with. If the members were failing in slenderness check for example, decreasing loads would not make a difference.
