Hi,
Please see attached model where I am trying to analyse a beam losely kept on top of transverse steel beams (not modelled) at both ends. Because there will not be any restraints and conncetivity against uplift on top of the supporting beams therefore I have calculated the stiffness and modelled KFY within FIXED BUT with non-linear (Compression only) specs to go with it. I have also specified constraints to internal supports for stability as envisaged to be available from real arrangements.
* Please provide feed back if the method is right. For compression only supports, I first specified FIXED BUT supports with Fy released and KFY stiffness provided andf then went ahead and specified COMPRESSION ONLY support to it. Is this rightly done! Is there more efficient or professional way of doing it?!
* Please advise if I were to use MUTILINEAR support option then would this approach be right OR this would be done differently?!
Many thanks.
