Bachelor degree help

Hello

I'm currently working on my bachelor degree, and have utilized staad to design my structure. My assignment is constructing an art installation, which will be built in 2014, covering an island in a Norwegian lake. This is my first time using Staad, and we haven't had any lectures about the program at school. In other words, I'm not very confident that my results are accurate.

Questions

 - In a tutorial regarding, I read windloads can only be applied to members parrallell to one of the axis. The art I'm projecting have very few members running along the axes. I used the Staad to calculate my windload but don't feel confident about the results, and would be glad if someone bothered to control them.

 - When making load combinations, you need to put in factors. I used 1.2 for dead, and 1,5 for wind, as this is the dominating variable load. What seems to confuse me is that the results given in the output file doesn't alter when I change these factors. Why?

 - The artist behind this project have hopes that this art installation can be built in Timber. Only problem is my staad version only include American and Canadian timber. I have no knowledge about these materials, and therefore cant apply them with confidence. Is there any way to construct your own material within Staad, including all the material data, so that the program may perform all the neccecary calculations.

My staad file is very simple, and I would assume someone with skills in the program could control my progress with ease. I hope someone bothers to take their time to check it out, and would really appreciate any feedback you may have.

Dalen
