Re: Wind Load Definitions in STAAD

If the photovoltaic cells are directly resting on the two parallel beams then you need to apply them as one floor load . And if they are resting directly on inclined one then apply one way floor load...

Re: Wind Load Definitions in STAAD

Thank you Geeky biswa =')I can deal with PV's weight, and applied it into the structure, but what I'm asking about is the wind load influence on the roof, when I do wind load analysis, I take into...

Re: COMPRESSION SPRINGS, MEMBER COMPRESSION and CHANGE Commands

Thanks, that's great. It is almost as if an ENFORCED restraint has less degrees of freedom than a FIXED restraint. I don't think STAAD HELP deals fully with the differences between the two. What is the...

Re: ISM or Ram-Revit Link

Revit is updated every year!  So the Bentley RAM users get 6 months a year to use the link?  That is not acceptable.  Bentley has been promising capabilities for this link since 2009 and, even when it...

Re: ISM or Ram-Revit Link

Don't be too hard on Bentley.  It doesn't look like any of the other software providers have a Revit 2014 link either.  They're all currently "working on it".  The difficulty is caused by Revit not...

Re: COMPRESSION SPRINGS, MEMBER COMPRESSION and CHANGE Commands

Just one last question. When I run the revised file I get no errors or warnings but there are 17 notifications of zero stiffness at joint. Is that OK in this case?

Re: COMPRESSION SPRINGS, MEMBER COMPRESSION and CHANGE Commands

The zero stiffness warnings are due to the fact that MX and MZ are released at supports 9 to 12. The statics check is satisfied. I don't see any abnormal displacements either. So it should be OK.

Re: COMPRESSION SPRINGS, MEMBER COMPRESSION and CHANGE Commands

I've always found the rule about the number of DOF's before and after a change command kind of weird. I'm sure there is some good reason for it but from a user's point of view it just seems capricious....

Re: ISM or Ram-Revit Link

Thanks, that's right. Revit might give early versions of the API out to some developers but most of us don't get it until the final release goes out, so we have to catch up. And with each version so...

I do understand your point but unfortunately this is a requirement as far as the analysis engine is concerned. I don't see changes happening to that anytime soon. However the limitation will not be...
