I have a large structure; circa 800mT which has fully fixed connections, steel liner welded to the columns and vertical braces in the corners.
During analysis Staad has distributed more load to the braced columns. In reality, when we have weighed the structure the gravity loads travel directly down the columns and not the braces. The only way I can replicate this in Stadd is making the braces inactive. The problem I will have is that I will not have any bracing to resist horizontal loading.
Any thoughts?
The Select Series 6's input editor is atrociously slow due to the new "parsing" feature. Has any fix been investigated for this?

The question is really that, is it necessary to make seismic definition when you already define the response spectrum under your load item? When your doing the analysis as per eurocode 8, there is no option for eurocode under the seismic definition...In a nutshell: is the seismic definition needed when doing the response spectrum analysis and per Eurocode 8?

I got the steel frame at 6 m spacing with 19.45 m span (Euro code 3) which I have considered buckling analysis and imperfections.
I noticed there is an error showing that “ **WARNING- CONSECUTIVE ANALYSIS COMMANDS. ONLY FIRST USED.” I tried to show but I still unable to solve it.
In between, my member size is too big as it is governed by horizontal deflection. I have tried to model in 3D but it seems does not help. Any ideas to solve it?
In addition, for this kind of structural steel frame. Which equation (Equation 6.10, 6.10a and 6.10b) shall be considered in the analysis? Thanks.

I am performing transportation analysis on structural modules. for that I have to consider impact load in longitudinal direction in case of breaking and starting of vehicle.
for that I have mentioned grating load as floor load in reference load case in lateral direction and then later used it in basic load case with some reduction factor.
But when I am performing analysis it is telling me that no beams loaded for floor load case.

Hi, we are using STAAD.etc software since last many years. We basically use this software for designing the foundations and retaining wall. It has given excellent results for foundation design. We have licensed version of it. Since it was purchased long back it is installed in an old computer. Now that computer doesn't work properly, it gets hang or sometime screen gets blank while using the software. Computer engineers say that the ram is very old. They even say that if we upgrade the ram then STAAD.etc software won't work. What is the solution for this? Please advice.

I am working on a Mat Foundation Raft to Eurocode 2 in RAM concept and have input all my own load cases and load combination (approx 100 different cases).
When I try to run this I get an error for all the rule sets saying that my load factors do not appear compatible.
All my loads have been put in as load type 'Other' except the defaults (self dead loading, balance loading and hyperstatic loading)
When I set up my load combinations I have selected them all to include all 'plans.'
What is likely to be causing these errors and if the load combinations I have put in are 100% correct does this error actually have an effect on my model output?

In the RAM Steel Beam/Joist Module, what happens with camber once you manually update a beam's design using the View/Update command? Is there no way to include camber when doing it this way?
I like to get my stress ratios under 0.90 in early designs but I noticed that none of these beams include camber once I update their design manually.

For a model (EC3:2005 design codes used) that includes lots of bracings of L80x80x8 and L90x90x9 I am getting warnings "Torsion check not supported" for those types of beams.
How am I suppose to overcome such issues ?

Looking in to the verification problem 20 regarding temperature loading, I have few questions:
1. The input temperature diff is positive towards positive local z axis. The relative deformation is also positive towards positive z. So the tension will be on the positive Z axis. But the moment shows otherwise.
2. So I modified the problem,added a pressure loading (Load Case 2) in - z direction. The deformation I get in -z direction correctly and the tension also in the negative z direction.
3. Even though the two forces are completely opposite as proved by their action towards deformation (opposite in direction) but why both the forces produces the moment in same direction, i.e. tension in negative z direction as the sign convention suggests or I was wrong on something.

And now I am not able to see BMD SFD and axial force diagrams after analysis.
this problem was not there in SS5 version.
this seems a "major major bug" with SS6 version.
please reply ASAP.
