I am using RAM Connections for connection design. In SI system weld size is still displayed in 1/16 of an inch in all type of connection. But I need to enter value in mm and not using equivalent size of 1/16 of an inch. Kindly help..

I am designing pile cap using Staad foundation. I have imported staad file from staad pro. Pile capacity is more than thousand and my support reaction is only around 300. Still I am not getting single pile cap. Please suggest me a solution.

In the RAM Concept Lateral Self Equilibrium [TN] discussion, at the very bottom of the page, there is a note that says,
Note: Ram Structural System lateral loads will generally be exported to Ram Concept in a self-equilibrium state, but user defined lateral nodal loads, especially those that include vertical (z direction) forces will not be in equilibrium and as such, those should only be processed as Normal analysis loads in Ram Concept.
I am currently modeling a structure and have this exact condition. When I attempt to "Calc All", I receive an Analysis Errors for each of the user defined lateral nodal loads that I defined in RAM SS. These loads do include z direction forces. The Analysis Errors look like this:
How do I ensure that these loads are processed as Normal analysis loads in Ram Concept as suggested in the note from the link?
Is there any tutorial for ram concept that shows steps to design slab on grade?

When I run the RAM Frame analysis, I get an error that says "Warning(s) found during analysis. During iterative analysis with tension-only members, some of the load cases failed to converge. Please see "analysis log" report for further information about warnings." Even with the warning, the model runs and gives reasonable results. The analysis log does not seem to provide any further information, it looks as usual.
I can't find any reason for this error, and there are no errors or warnings in the integrated data check. I had been using this same model without issue for weeks and only got this error when I added an extra column line, which should theoretically be an insignificant change. The model is a small two story steel building with tension only x-braces and a sloped roof.
Any ideas as to the source of this error would be appreciated. Even though I'm getting results, I can't trust them with this error present.
Hello, I am performing response spectrum analysis in three directions on a large model in STAAD (v8i version 20.07.11.50) using the "generic" method as discussed in Section 5.32.10.1.1 of the Help file. As in the example given in that section, we have repeated all selfweight, joint, and member loads due to dead load and 25% of live load within the first spectrum load case, and in each of three directions (X, Y, and Z). I would like to know if we can define the dead and live loads as reference loads using this method, so as to avoid needing to reenter all the loads. If so, is it necessary to define the reference loads as "MASS" type? If they are defined as "MASS", does STAAD automatically consider the loads entered as masses in all three directions? Also, if the "MASS" reference load type is used, does that prevent use of that reference load for the corresponding static analysis load case? Would it be better to use the DEAD or LIVE loading types? If so, how do we apply all the Y-direction loads as masses in the other directions? Thank you very much for your assistance. I want to discuss whether a 4-noded plate is sufficient to represent as a slab or proper meshing along with the supporting beams is required to distribute the load uniformly over the supporting beams. Because if we do not mesh it properly, the load will be transferred to 4 nodes only resulting to non-uniform distribution of load.

I am working on the design of a concrete substructure (elevated slabs, concrete columns, basement walls, and foundation elements), while a collaborating firm is designing the steel superstructure above. See the Figures below.
We have been provided the reactions imposed on our concrete substructure from their steel superstructure above. See Figure 3 for example of this condition.
In RAM Modeler, the assignment of Point Loads representing the gravity loads from steel columns above is simple enough. However, I'm struggling to understand the proper method of assigning the loads from the steel braces above. The elevated slab is intended to be the lateral load path which delivers the lateral load to the shear walls.
I've found that Nodal Loads can be assigned in RAM Modeler, but only if a lateral (frame) beam or wall is present at the desired location. Are there other (more appropriate) ways of assigning imposed forces from these braces? We hadn't anticipate having a frame beam/wall at every occurrence of a steel brace; but as an exercise, in RAM SS, I did model a frame beam or wall beneath every occurrence of a steel brace from above. I then assigned a Nodal Load with Z and X or Y forces representing the forces from the steel brace. After analyzing in RAM Frame and RAM Concrete, I have imported to RAM Concept and am experiencing Analysis Errors as shown below.
I am still working to understand the Self-Equilibrium Loading dynamic and realize that not all of the Analysis Errors are related to my question of assigning imposed lateral loads. But any help on how best to assign the imposed loads from the braces above so that the structure is analyzed in the way we intended it to behave would be much appreciated.

50*30*2 steel c channel (h.d.g) i want to assign this section to a beam but i cant find this section ... if not present in staad sections then how i create that section?
A few questions:
1. Is the only way to account for the lateral stiffness of a steel roof deck or checkered plate floor by modelling plate elements and assigning a stiffness, or can the MASTER/SLAVE ZX command be used?
2. I am modeling an existing building in which the floor structure is made up of wood pack flooring sitting on top of deep steel beams. Is the MASTER/SLAVE ZX command accurate in this situation or would I need to model plate elements?
3. Is there a different way to use joists in a Staad model where they will actually be representative of more than their own self weight? I am also modeling a warehouse structure where the designer would like to use long span joists at 5' o/c in one direction(120'). I have only modeled the joists at the column lines(25' o/c) where they will have a bottom chord brace back to the column. When I run my model with lateral load, the joists provide no stiffness and my deflections are more than unrealistic. To fix this I put in very heavy W shapes and make sure to exclude the self weight. This brings the deflections back into a reasonable range, but would like to think there is a more accurate way to do this. Any suggestions?
