Dear,

For the geometry and forces below, how is it possible to have cantilever c more than it is possible to accommodate in the BP dimensions?

Torsional moment vs bending moment

$

 In the software, Moment about x axis was defined as torsional moment.. While moment about z and y axes are bending moment... Why is it ?
The direction of x, y and a axes were shown in the highlighted part..

I think it is wrong. For red circled beam, i kinda agree that Moment about x axis was defined as torsional moment.. While moment about z and y axes are bending moment...

But for blue circled beam, I think that Moment about z axis was defined as torsional moment.. While moment about x and y axes are bending moment...

Please correct me if I am wrong.https://imgur.com/a/7ZBWMcv

difference between repeat load and normal load case

hi

just wondering how staad treats a load case with numerous loading item in comparison to 'repeat load' case.

does it solve the both scenario in same manner?

if i include a support settlement load and normal gravity loads within a single load case then would these be solved as one or will the results of individual load items be superimposed. how would 'repeat load' specs will differ in this case.

many thanks

My Connection Client is trying to download and install this version. 1) Is it available?  2) If yes, I would like to see the Release Notes first and download it directly to our network storage instead of installing it directly.  3) If it not available, why does the "update" show up in the Connection Client?

Adding Interop.RAMDATAACCESSLib.dll to a native x64 process?

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody had experience adding this .COM dll into a native x64 process. I am trying to transfer information from our RAM model to another software that is native to x64.  Since the RAM .dll is a .COM 32bit based .dll, I am receiving this error:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {831DA20F-FE64-4A33-B24F-25CEE81939DC} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).

My target platform is locked on x64 in order to run the app, so I can't use x86 platform.  It is not a standalone application so I cannot enable 32 bit interop. I did not have any success registering for COM interop either. I have googled around and figured I would ask if anybody else had a solution to this.

Thanks,

Norm

we have faced an issue in staad foundation version 9.1.0.14 as the self weight check box is missing which was available earlier.

Refer to attached snapshots.

  • Check box to add self weight is missing while it was available in previous versions.

  • STAAD solver automatically add self-weight factor as below
  • Consequently following warning encountered.
  • Below snap shot from SFA help as reference for missing check box.

Ram Concept Status plan Failed 8.6.2.3, 8.5.2

Hello All,

I am really grateful for the replies I get when I post here as this has further increased my knowledge and interest in the software. I have some questions and I hope to get some clarifications. I am analyzing a 1/3 scale model of a prototype 2 way PT flat plate as per ACI 318-14. The model is 3 in thick, 10ft spans in both direction and 2.5ft cantilever, the superimposed dead load is 95 psf which I modeled on the Sdl + compensation plan, the live load is 53 psf which I modeled on the Live (unreducible) plan because I don't want it reduced. I have banded tendons in the longitudinal direction (jacking stress of 186ksi) and distributed tendons in the latitude direction (jacking stress of 188ksi). I modeled the design strip as full width and NOT column/middle strip, I also have D5 bars concentrated in the positive and negative moment regions as shown in picture 1 and 2 respectively. I instructed the software just to check capacity of user rebars at first, Here is my problem/questions;

1) Picture 3 shows the code minimum design status plan and the corner columns failed 8.6.2.3, when I checked this section of the ACI 318-14  code, it is talking about minimum rebars. I believe that section of the slab has the minimum rebar required as this was checked by hand. The top bars around the column are all D5 bars spaced @2.5in so I really don't know why I am getting this red failures. Can it be the way I modeled the rebars? Is there a way I can see the rebar demand and capacity using the auditing? I cant seem to find anything like that when I used the auditing tool, where should I look at?.

2) Pictures 4 and 5 shows the service and strength design status plan respectively and they also failed due to section 8.5.2 which talks about moment and nothing more. Does this means the banded direction is not adequate to resist the moment demand? or what exactly does this failure 8.5.2 mean and how can I rectify this? This is a PT slab and I don't expect this to have so many rebars since there are 16 tendons in the distributed direction and 17 tendons in the banded direction (3, 5,5,4 tendons along the column lines).

3 The 4 interior columns also failed due to 24.5.2.1 (picture 4) which is top stress limit, I believe this particular flat plate was checked using the equivalent frame method and the stresses met the limit set by ACI even though the stress in the columns were much higher than the limit, this can still be ignore in the EFM I believe. How well does the EFM agree with finite element method? I know they can be the same since the EFM is an approximate method but I don't think the same slab can fail the top stress limit in one method and pass in the other, what is the discrepancy Please?

4) When I allowed the software to design program rebars, pictures 6 and 7 are the outcome which does not really seem reasonable to me. Is it that the program is not considering this as a 2 way PT slab? I will really appreciate if I can get a detailed response to all my questions and I don't mind sending the file over for someone experienced to check it for me, peradventure I have made some modeling mistakes or clicked the wrong thing in the software. Thanks.

Concept - Load Combination Associated with Envelope Max/Min

I exported the load cases and combinations from structural system into RAM Concept to design a mat foundation. Concept appears to be analyzing the load combinations to produce an envelope of maximum/minimum loading conditions. How can you see what load combinations are producing the maximum/minimum displayed in the envelope?

For example, after running the analysis, I can see the max/min Punching shear Reactions (Strength Design>Punching Check Reactions Table). I want to know which load combinations are associated with the results shown in the table. Where can I access this information in Concept?

Hi,

As refer to STAADPro help file, Section 5.31.2.16 IBC 2012 Seismic Load Definition, the governing time period from Ta (ASCE 7-10 Section 12.8.2.1) and Rayleigh method will be chosen.

I have a STAAD file with seismic input as :

DEFINE IBC 2012
SS 0.204 S1 0.058 I 1.5 RX 1.5 RZ 1.5 SCLASS 5 TL 12 FA 2.5 FV 3.5

Result for X direction is correctly shown as below

************************************************************
* IBC 2012 SEISMIC LOAD ALONG X :
* CT = 0.072 Cu = 1.629 x = 0.8000
* TIME PERIODS :
* Ta = 0.457 T = 0.448 Tuser = 0.000
* TIME PERIOD USED (T) = 0.448
* Cs LIMITS : LOWER = 0.022 UPPER = 0.302
* LOAD FACTOR = 1.000
* DESIGN BASE SHEAR = 1.000 X 0.302 X 1885.09
* = 570.03 KN
************************************************************

However, result for Z direction, not sure how this 0.745 time period was chosen.

************************************************************
* IBC 2012 SEISMIC LOAD ALONG Z :
* CT = 0.072 Cu = 1.629 x = 0.8000
* TIME PERIODS :
* Ta = 0.457 T = 0.940 Tuser = 0.000
* TIME PERIOD USED (T) = 0.745
* Cs LIMITS : LOWER = 0.022 UPPER = 0.182
* LOAD FACTOR = 1.000
* DESIGN BASE SHEAR = 1.000 X 0.182 X 1885.09
* = 342.59 KN
************************************************************

Appreciate if anyone can assist. Thank you.

Hi Can anyone let me know why I am getting this error? I have tried everything to solve it but still it is there. Is it anything to do with angle of the members? The stress ratio of some of the members are getting pass 1000 which is unrealistic.

Dear Bentley Adminstrator .

These accounts are fake and have been added to your system using hacking techniques. It looks like someone in your organization is working with these people. I was able to identify some of these accounts. I can work with you if you wish. There are things you do not know and I know. I want to show my goodwill to Bentley.
I can do a great job with the Bentley R&D team. Take my advice and suggestion seriously and also avoid misusing these accounts if your business future matters.

Unfortunately I can't explain much more. There are one or more spies inside your organization that can harm your company (check the nationality of your employees).
All your programs are cracked and available for free on the Internet. Just visit LAVTEAM.ORG.

This site is Russian. There may be traces of Russian, Iranian and Chinese hackers.

Not taking this email and my suggestion will cause more damage to your company. If I'm with you, we can extend Bentley better than ever.

Please post the necessary reviews. Submit my suggestion. All my effort is to help you and I wish to work at Bentley. I will help companies in all areas of engineering as much as I can.

These problems are nothing and I know more severe problems in your company.

Your team will not be the only ones facing the problems and I have been able to identify many problems so far.

Our help will be mutual and I will achieve my wishes in life. I'm a white hat hacker.
