RE: Structure Rotation and Member Orientation Problems

Hi Kris,

Thanks for getting back to me.

For member 1002, and for every member, I am looking to have them orientated as they were before the rotation with respect to the structure itself.

Before the rotation the web of member 1002 was in a plane formed by:

1. Joint 1001

2. The original position (pre-rotated position) of joint 1003

3. The end of the main tubular, joint 1000/1002

This can be seen from the two figures below, both before rotation. The first shows the member/joint numbers, the second shows joint 1001, looking vertically down from member 1002. For clarity members 1003 and 1004 have been removed in figure 2.

The second figure confirms the orientation of the web as running parallel with the main tubular.

After the rotation, I am trying to achieve this orientation once more. However as shown below this is not the case, the web of member 1002 now lies in the plane you stated earlier, not the required plane.

Is it possible to re-orientate this member quick and easily, without manually altering the beta angle until the orientation is correct?

Thanks again Kris,

I look forward to your reply.

Kind Regards

Ian
