Physical modeling- How to add items four Wind definitions in one Wind Load case?

Under Physical modeling Wind load item are supposed to be included  as Windward+ Leeward +sidewall, which I  can not included in one wind load case, although i can add them as load item in one wind load case in analytical workflow. Is it possible?

Physical Modeler No option wo add

after transferring to Analytical modeler

Desired is as under, which is directly using  wind load items in on wind load case e.g Wind+X and then 1) wind x 1Type1 +2_ wind -x etc using only analytical modeling, and not by  P.M. to A.M.

Thanks

Arun

ISM - Revit - Ram SS

I'm testing some things out with the ISM (SS 17.04, ISM 11.4, Synchronizer 12.02) and I'm still finding it to be a little clunky for real world usage. I have a couple of questions. Has anyone figured out if you start in REvit how you can get your grids to start at 0,0 in RAM? I have tried starting revit models at the internal origin and that doesn't' seem to help. Also, in the synchronizer I was trying to see if I could tell it to ignore exact synced location but that doesn't seem to be an option. Does anyone have good documentation for that?

Thanks.

Aluminum Design in Ram Structural System

Is STAAD the only suite that allows for aluminum design? I currently run the RAM Structural System and I am quite happy with it. Is there any way to design aluminum through RAM, or do I need to go learn STAAD?

Hi Ram Concept Team,

If I don't define a tendon's polyline on the edge of PT slab, will RAM concept automatically recognize a column/ concrete wall as a support?

If I don't define a tendon's polyline inside of PT slab, will RAM Concept automatically recognize a column/ concrete wall as a support? What the default CGS at a a column/ concrete wall? Thanks,

Is the Top Stress Result Reliable at a Concrete Wall?

Hi RAM Concept Ream,

Attached is my top stress plan. The top stresses next to concrete walls always seem strange. Concrete walls can be considered as continuous supports. There should not be a lot of moment/top stress at the end of a concrete wall.  However, in my model, the top stress at one end of concrete wall is big (please see the attached 1). Similarly, it should not be huge of the top stress at one end of short span connected to a concrete wall, but the top stress is 659 in my model (please see the attached 2). If anyone could provide any ideas about it, I'll appreciated it. Thanks,

Hi Everyone,

When I open my STAADPRO CONNECT EDITION latest version (August 2022) the option of create new physical model is disabled on the homepage. Can someone please provide a solution for this? The option for creation of new Analytical model and building planner is enabled. I have also tried a fresh clean installation of latest version of STAADPRO CONNECT EDITION latest version (August 2022) but the problem still persists.

STAAD Properties, Redundancy in Section

Hello. Can somebody help me with this.

STAAD tends to automatically change the way of showing the sections in properties

It tends to individualize the section per member, when I always assign it by group.

It bothers a lot since I am concern about redesigning the members for optimal sizes,

when that happens. I have to redesign it 1 by 1.

How to make this back to assigned members by section size?

Inherent and Accidental Torsion for Custom Response Spectrum (Site-Specific RSA)

Attached below is the Response Spectra Window for ASCE code in STAAD.

It shows that torsional effects may be included by setting the parameters for the dynamic (DEC) and accidental (ECC) eccentricity.

However, this feature is not present if Custom Response Spectrum is used.

So, how would I include the effects of Inherent and Accidental Torsion if I am using a Site-Specific Response Spectrum? Thanks.

Hi. I use the response spectrum seismic method. I should apply permanent loads on 3 directions (x,y,z). I attached an image that indicates some loads in 3 directions. Is that correct?

RAM Concept - Standard, Max, Min Bending Moment on a Load Case (Self-Dead Loading for Example)

Hi,

I have a question regarding the "Standard", Maximum Moment", and "Minimum Moment" on the strip bending moment diagram on a single load case.

I have looked at 34.2.2 table 15 of the manual and it mentioned that this variation can happen due to pattern loading.

However, I didn't apply any pattern loading for this analysis hence I'd expect there's only a single strip bending moment diagram for a load case, which is not the case in my analysis.

Can anyone explain to me why I have an envelope results for a load case in my analysis?

Please see picture attached for clarity.

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Jefry Halim

clarification on the steel structure seismic analysis

Sir,

I am trying to qualify a existing steel structure for MCE condition with site spectra (model attached)

Analysis results showed a maximum displacement of around 255mm but the stress levels are with in limits.

To reduce displacement , planning to provide some bracing members & additional EP support ( model attached) .

Clarification / suggestions required on the following points.

1 . With the observed displacement of 255mm , it is correct to perform linear analysis. Doudt is whether linear analysis  gives wrong indication?

2.  With the bracing + EP support , the displacement in model is reduced to the requirement limit. Whether this approach is correct.
